Our range of stepper machines brings together some of the most demanding gym cardio machines on the market, including stair climbers from StairMaster, climber machines from Matrix and Jacob’s Ladder and the VersaClimber vertical climber.
Built for intensity and durability, these machines are designed for commercial gyms, studios and high-performance home training spaces.
While the terms ‘stepper’ and ‘stair climber’ are often used interchangeably, there are subtle differences.
Stepper machines typically use independent or linked pedals with a focus on vertical movement, simulating stair climbing with continuous stepping. This creates a highly effective cardiovascular workout while placing significant emphasis on the lower body and core.
Meanwhile, stair climbers replicate the feel of climbing a staircase, requiring continuous, rhythmic movement.
Climber machines such as VersaClimber feel more like climbing a ladder, combining stepping with arm drive. This increases overall muscle engagement and cardiovascular demand compared to traditional steppers or stair climbers.
In all cases, the user is in an upright position and constant effort is required, making these machines particularly effective for calorie burn and endurance development. They also strengthen the glutes, quads, hamstrings and calves and place significant demand on the core.
Resistance is driven by bodyweight and cadence, so intensity can be scaled easily for different fitness levels. However, although these machines are accessible to a wide range of users, they typically feel more demanding than cross trainers. This makes them better suited to confident exercisers in functional training areas and athlete-focused gyms, as well as performance-focused home gyms.
