Project scope

Maria Zuccarello, a secondary school teacher and qualified PT, approached Physical Company to kit out her newly built indoor/outdoor personal training space.

Mission

Keen to launch her own PT business, Maria set out to create a bespoke space in her back garden to train her clients. The result is a 30sq m studio with bi-fold doors opening onto a large patio and artificial turf, all landscaped to be suitable for training.

Currently using the space to train herself, with a new goal of entering a bodybuilding competition, Maria is also keen to use her weights-focused training approach to help others achieve their goals. Her personal training business is now set for imminent launch.

Strategy

With limited space available, Maria chose to steer away from larger pieces of cardio equipment. Turning to Physical Company as a one-stop shop for all her needs, her current selection includes Olympic lifting bar and discs, a Hex Bar, kettlebells, medicine balls, Bosu ball, slam balls, a weighted bag, aerobic step and battle ropes. Next on her shopping list is a squat rack.

“Physical Company’s customer service has been excellent,” says Maria. “Even in lockdown, when equipment was harder to come by, they have shown a real personal touch in getting me what I needed.”

The results

Aiming for an official launch in the new academic year, when she plans to go part-time in her teaching role, Maria is nevertheless already personal training a number of her friends.

She has also had high levels of interest from local PTs wanting to rent her space to train their own clients. A trial with one of these PTs has been very positive, with both trainer and clients delighted with the space and the quality and range of equipment on offer.
