Project scope

Physical Company were commissioned to help re-design a section of the gym and provide new flooring. This included flooring for a new lifting zone and to replace an existing track.  

Mission

Littledown Centre is operated by BH Live in partnership with BCP Council.  The gym is almost 10,000 sq foot and one of the biggest health and fitness facilities on the south coast. The mission was to refurbish an underutilised area of the gym enabling new equipment to be installed.

Strategy

The team recognised they had an area of the gym that was mainly hosting CV equipment and was underutilised. Listening to customer feedback, and adapting current functional fitness trends, a functional lifting zone, incorporating new equipment and specialist flooring was required. The lifting zone was redesigned to incorporate four integrated lifting areas using the Ecore Smashtile. The existing track, which had become worn, was replaced with Custom Turf.

The results

The install completed in June 2019 meeting the agreed timescales. The Ecore Smashtile flooring in the lifting zone has reduced the amount of floor space which would have been taken up by platforms and is noise and impact friendly. The Custom Turf has provided a ‘wow’ factor with a wider, longer and more useable track.
